Once we were at MD Anderson, we were able to get into all of the labs a little early, just in time to wait, wait, wait to see Dr. Walsh. Dr. Walsh's perspective on the issue was much less alarming! He reviewed the CT scans that we brought and agrees that the thymus is quite enlarged. However, he seems to feel that is uniformly so, without any particular area being disproportionate to the rest. Because of that, he decided to cancel the PET scan (which would lead to confusing results if the thymus is just inflamed).
So, we are going to wait for 6 weeks and repeat the CT scan and other labs. PRAY for positive change. There is a possibility that this is just a case of thymic hyperplasia (which is inflammation due to some sort of reaction or indicative of other diseases).
In the meanwhile, Dr Walsh has also requested the actual slides from the biopsy that was done earlier. He was very unimpressed with the pathology report and the vagueness of the evaluation. So, he has requested that the slides be forwarded to MD Anderson for review by MDA Pathology. PRAY that there is nothing suspicious or ugly there!
Pray for me to be able to rest and be more comfortable. Dr. Walsh's perspective was much more laid back and unalarming. This is great! However, I don't feel any better. I am still having the same discomfort and trouble sleeping as before. I wake up throughout the nights with the chest pain. No sleep is awful on one's emotions! PRAY for me to be able to sleep well.

I'm so glad that the appointments went well! The waiting is no fun but hopefully the end result will be total healing! Love ya!
